Carcassonne, France

August 25th - 26th

Carcassonne, France

So we say good-bye to Spain, and hello again to France!  We were told that Carcassonne was a place in France that we should not miss.  It is a quaint medieval town.  We know that we saw a great castle in Vianden, Luxembourg, but this town is a whole medieval city!  We only stayed one night, which is all it really takes to see the place, but it was a good experience.

We begin with the drawbridge into the Medieval City

The Castle within the Medieval City

Looking out from the castle walls into Carcassonne

He must think he's the King of the Castle...maybe just a squire!

Our horse and carriage...we wish!

Looking out at some french vineyards from the city walls

Within the Medieval walls, but outside of the castle...its so cute and you could just picture what the lifestyle would have been back in the medieval times!

The local cuisine...interesting mix of beans, random meats, including salted beef

Swords!!!  Steven considered buying one but then realized he would have to lug it around for 1 more month and did not think it would be considered the best carry-on!

For our 1 night in Carcassonne, we stayed in an old Abby...very interesting and probably the oldest building we have ever slept in, being 1000 years old!  This is the view outside of our window into the cute courtyard.

OMG Yoda! Steve found a new friend on his journey...and may the force be with you.

The medieval village and castle from a far...day and night!
