Annecy, France

August 29th - 31st

Annecy, France

We officially left the Mediterranean coast of France.  We are still left with its glorious setting in our minds!  We head north to Annecy which is part of the French Alps.  It is more cold and rainy than the coast, but we find something in Annecy that captures our hearts!  The water...we have never seen such clear, CLEAN water!  The rivers and lakes in Annecy are so clear!

Here is a picture of the river through Annecy...not quite like the Thames River in London, Ontario that Jenna grew up on!

A cute fence made up of skis!  Being in the Alps, this area is very popular for its ski hills.  The lakes and hills really reminded us of home and why we love where we live so much!

The quaint streets and rivers of Annecy.  In the centre of the town there is this old building parting the river that used to be the jail house.

August 30th

Annecy was exactly what we needed in this part of the trip!  We were trying to figure out what the trip was missing...we had seen cities, old buildings, churches, castles, the Mediterranean, cliffs, beaches, salt water and so many things we are incredibly thankful for, but to get out into the nature and hike is something that we have not really been able to do, so today we hiked!!  It was raining when we left, but that did not stop us!

The beginning of our hike on the lake looking across at the lush green hills!

We hiked to 2 different waterways, and explored the hill side of Annecy Lake.  We just love how the water cascades over that rock!

The 2nd waterfall is falling so high!  It is hard to really grasp the height of this waterfall because we were limited with our camera angles, but it was so smooth and has carved its own path along the rock.

Looking down towards the bottom of the waterfall

We love hiking and waterfalls!

The layers of rock, and the lush trees were so incredible along the hike.  It was weird though because many of the trees were already starting to change colour and drop their leaves for fall. (A weird feeling when you were just wearing your bathing suit on the beach the day before!)

The incredible views over Lake Annecy!!

We could get used to this place!

We came across a whole bunch of rock climbing routes...wish we brought some rock climbing gear!

Our hike brought us through this tiny village where grapes were growing on the side of the houses.  The classic stone houses with wooden shutters, and a grape vine growing up the side.

Enough said!!

ANNECY...the warm blue lake waters (26 degrees water), the lush green hills, the fresh air, and a cute french town!  It may have been raining, but that just made it feel more like Vancouver, lol!

Next stop, SWITZERLAND!
