Bordeaux, France
After Paris, we headed southwest to Bordeaux, France. We have enjoyed our time on the train, where we can sit back, relax and read our books! The train was about 5 hours and travelled between 200 and 300km/hour! Bordeaux is the well-known wine country of France, so we were hoping to rent a car for the day and explore some vineyards as well as check out the coast of France, where the beaches are suppose to be gorgeous along the Atlantic Ocean. Unfortunately, renting a car for one day was RIDICULOUSLY expensive, and we were not in Bordeaux long enough to book a vineyard tour, so we decided to treat ourselves to some delicious French cuisine!!
We found a restaurant in a super cute square filled with lots of tables and massive umbrellas to shade everyone! We got a 3 course French lunch for 15 euros each, which is pretty good once you see all of the food we ate!! yum!
Starting with our appetizer...Jenna got a salad with warm melting Brie on it, and Steven got Salmon and capers topped with arugula.
For the main course Steven got a HUGE pot of Clams! He was very happy!
Dessert, Jenna indulged in the famous Creme Brulee...delicious!
We ended up taking the train about 45 minutes west to the coast to check out the beach. The weather was hot, the beach was sandy, and packed with people! It actually ended up being the perfect getaway after a week of busy Paris!
We could get used to this Beach Life!
A random massive pink whale in the water
Sinking his feet in the sand, and enjoying the scenery
Some great scenery
This wall divided the beach and the harbour
S + J - EURO 2012!!!
Even though we were not able to check out the wineries in Bordeaux, we were still able to enjoy their wine!! We still can not get over the price of beer and wine here...We have not spent more than 3 euros for a bottle of wine! Boy are we going to be disappointed when we get back to Canada and go to the liquor store! We would have liked to stay longer in Bordeaux, but we already had our train ticket and hotel booked for Bilbao, Spain.
