MUSEUM + MOLLY

MOLLY THOMAS + LONDON, ENGLAND = A GREAT TIME!

Jenna's great friend from Briercrest, Molly Thomas, was also visiting London, England for the Olympics!  Last time they saw each other was in Vancouver, BC for the 2010 Winter Olympics.   Every opportunity is a photo opt!

Spent the day at the Natural History Museum...this is Steve saying "Yay Science!" at the entrance of the museum.

Chilling in the sweet architecture of the museum.

Check out the huge cross section of the Sequoia in the background.

I've got the whole world in my hands...well I guess I needed some help!

Sweet Outer Space Exhibit

ahhhhhhhhhh....dinosaur!

It was so great to hang out with Molly today!  It has been so long since we saw each other and Steve was finally able to meet her!  The Natural History Museum in London was just fantastic!  So much to see!

Tonight we are doing laundry and packing up to officially leave London.  It will be sad to go and say good bye to Dave, but our next stop is Amsterdam, Netherlands!  So if anyone has ever been to the Netherlands please give us any suggestions for things to do, or your favourite place to eat!

Olympics!!

Day 2 begins and we decide to a see a few London sights before heading to Olympic Park.

Jenna is modelling in front of the traditionally understood 'flat' aka apartment.

In Regent Park we find one of many London Eye mascots. Decide to have a little fun with this guy.

We set the timer on the camera and ran over to the bridge...when the rail almost gave way, we were pretty thankful we didn't end up swimming!

"The Olympic rings were this big." Haha,  Jenna excited to be at the Olympic park.

Olympic Fever

 Tower Bridge.

DAY 3:  Here we are at Horse Guards Parade, the stadium for the Olympics Beach Volleyball!!!! Situated just east of Buckingham palace in the heart of London.  Jenna's pretty excited with her ticket!!

Our awesome seats!!  It was such a perfect sunny day...very rare for London!

We watched 4 games...2 women and 2 men's games
1.  Mauritius vs Czech Republic (woman)
- pretty neat to see since Uncle Lekh is from Mauritius
2.  Switzerland vs China (woman)
- such a good game!  we were cheering for the Swiss, but they lost in a tight game
3.  CANADA vs Norway (men)
- we were so surprised that we got to watch Canada play!! even though they lost...
4.  South Africa vs Lativa (men)
- who knew Lativa was so good at beach volleyball?!

The fountain and lion at Trafalgar Square.

London Eye Ferris Wheel.  We were amazed by how many people they can put in each of those pods.  We thought about going on, but then decided pictures of it were a cheaper memory!

Buckingham Palace!!  Always wanted to see these guards that rarely move.  We wonder what he's watching under that hat!

London Calling!

We officially made it to London!  We left Vancouver at 1:30pm on friday and arrived in London at 7am on Saturday (which was really only 11pm on friday Vancouver time)...so needless to say we did not get much sleep!  The flight was really good though.  We watched 3 movies, had 2 meals and had a little nap.  Dave Gatey, Jenna's brother, picked us up at Gatwick Airport and we began a day of London touring!

We decided that we would tough it out and we are trying to stay up as late as we can tonight so that we can get on London time and hopefully not endure jet lag too long!  So far we have been up for about 30 hours!  Today we toured around and saw St. Paul's Cathedral, London, Tower, and Millennium Bridge, the Monument, Royal Opera House, where we got a history of the summer olympic games, Covent Garden Market, and the Tate Modern.  We have been introduced to the national train, the Overground, the Underground and the Tube! Lots of ways to get around!

A Picture that I've always wanted!  My favourite telephone booths...or as Steve sees it, it is the civilian entrance into the Ministry of Magic (Harry Potter)

St. Paul's Cathedral...its huge!  Now find Steve in this picture!

Dave knocking on the huge doors at St. Paul's!

This is the Millennium Bridge, aka the Harry Potter Bridge, with St. Paul's Cathedral in the background.

THE COUNTDOWN IS ON!!!!  Officially 10 days until we fly from Vancouver to London, England!  We have decided to begin this blog so that our friends and family can follow along on our 2 month journey throughout Europe!

As you see in the picture above, we had a fantastic wedding weekend with so many of our friends and family!  It was such a blessing to be able to share our marriage and love with those who have loved and supported us throughout our lives.  We basically had a 2 day wedding celebration with amazing weather, a formal ceremony and reception, as well as a informal hangout on the second day!  Steven and I could not be more thankful for the way everything turned out!

As we begin to pack and look towards the biggest trip of our lives, we hope that you will join us on our journey through this blog!
